The September 2026 Clash of Clans update brings new content, balance changes, and quality-of-life improvements. Here is everything you need to know.
Every month Supercell releases updates to Clash of Clans that adjust the balance, add new content, and respond to community feedback. September 2026 follows this pattern with meaningful changes that affect attack strategies, base design priorities, and progression pacing.
New Season Pass Content
September's Gold Pass brings a new set of cosmetic rewards, Magic Items, and exclusive building skins. Players who complete all season challenges earn additional resources, Builder Potions, and a unique skin for one of the season's featured heroes or troops.
The free pass track also offers meaningful rewards this season β Supercell has continued expanding the free pass value in response to community feedback, giving free-to-play players more resources for upgrades.
Balance Changes
Supercell adjusts troop, spell, and defense stats each season based on attack success rates and player feedback. For September 2026, the key balance areas include:
Root Rider adjustments: Root Rider has dominated the attack meta for several seasons. September's update includes tuning to its wall-breaking efficiency and HP values at certain upgrade levels β aiming to make defensive responses more viable without completely removing Root Rider from the meta.
Super Witch tweaks: Super Witch spawn rates for Big Boy Skeletons have been reviewed. The goal is to maintain Super Witch as a powerful option while making dedicated anti-Witch base designs more consistently effective.
Air Defense improvements: Several Air Defense-type buildings received accuracy and range improvements to make air attacks harder to execute without full spell commitment.
New TH18 Content
If TH18 has received new buildings or upgrade levels this season, those additions fundamentally change how TH18 bases should be designed. New defensive buildings require updating base layouts to incorporate the extra coverage they provide.
Quality of Life Improvements
Each update also brings interface improvements and bug fixes. September 2026 includes improvements to the base editing interface, additional copy link functionality for Builder Base layouts, and performance optimizations for older devices.
What This Means for Your Base
After every major balance update, review your war base and CWL base to ensure they still hold against the updated meta. Changes to Root Rider and Super Witch affect which trap placements are most effective. Browse BaseCOC after the update patch for freshly tested base layouts that account for the September 2026 changes.
