TH10 Overview

Town Hall 10 is widely considered the most strategically demanding mid-game milestone in Clash of Clans. It introduces two Inferno Towers — the first defenses capable of burning through healer support entirely — and each one can be switched independently between Multi-target mode, which devastates grouped troops like Hog Riders and Miners, and Single-target mode, which locks onto one unit and burns through its HP no matter how many Healers it has. Miners arrive as the landmark new offensive troop: they travel underground to avoid Mortars and surface directly beside their targets, bypassing wall compartments entirely. The Haste Spell also unlocks here, dramatically changing how Balloon and Hog Rider attacks approach clustered defenses. At TH10, knowing how to configure your two Inferno Towers is the single most important base-building decision you will make.

Base Building Tips for TH10

1

Set one Inferno Tower to Multi-target and one to Single-target — Multi shreds Miners and Hogs, Single burns Lava Hounds and Golems

2

Place Inferno Towers in separate base halves so a single Poison Spell or Freeze cannot disable both simultaneously

3

Miners surface at the edge of buildings — place Spring Traps and Giant Bombs at building perimeters, not open ground

4

All four Air Defenses should sit in different quadrants to prevent a single LaLoon Rage Spell from covering two of them

5

Double Giant Bomb pairs hidden along the most predictable Hog Rider pathing route eliminate entire Hog groups instantly

6

X-Bow set to Air mode helps against low-altitude Balloon columns that survive after Air Defenses fall

7

Seal your Town Hall behind three full wall layers — Miners bypass the first two but the third buys enough time for Infernos to engage

TH10 Attack Strategies

Understanding the current attack meta is the key to building a base that actually holds. Here are the top strategies used against TH10 bases in wars, CWL, and Legend League — and how to counter each one.

Mass Miner

⚔ GroundIntermediate

Mass Miner is the defining TH10 ground strategy. Miners travel underground between attacks, making them completely immune to Mortars, Cannons, and X-Bows while moving. They surface directly beside their chosen target, bypassing every wall compartment the attacker spent hours designing. With three Healing Spells chained continuously, a well-deployed Miner army can plow through bases that rely on compartmentalization for survivability — the traditional approach most TH10 defenses use. If an opponent has even one Inferno Tower set to Multi-target mode, the spell management becomes tighter, but the attack remains viable.

Army Composition

Miners ×32Healing Spell ×3Rage SpellPoison Spell

How to Execute

  1. 1

Before attacking: check the base for Inferno Tower modes — Multi-target shreds Miners faster; plan spell timing around whichever side it guards

  2. 2

Lure Clan Castle troops using a single Miner or Balloon, then eliminate them with Poison Spell before deploying your army

  3. 3

Identify the base half with the weakest air-independent defenses (fewer X-Bows, no Multi-target Inferno)

  4. 4

Deploy all Miners in a single horizontal line across that base edge — they automatically spread to individual targets

  5. 5

Drop the first Healing Spell the moment Miners surface and begin taking Inferno damage — do not wait for them to cluster

  6. 6

Keep chaining Healing Spells: place the second one slightly ahead of the cluster as they push toward the base center

  7. 7

Activate the Archer Queen ability if she walks alongside the Miners and drops below one-third HP

  8. 8

Drop the Rage Spell when the Miner cluster reaches the Town Hall compartment for a fast finish

How to Counter It

  • 🛡

Run one Inferno Tower on Single-target and one on Multi-target — Single-target locks onto one Miner and burns through Healing Spell regeneration completely

  • 🛡

Spring Traps placed at the edges of buildings (not in open ground) trigger when Miners surface to attack, removing several at once

  • 🛡

Giant Bombs positioned at the corners of your TH compartment hit Miner clusters the moment they arrive for the final push

  • 🛡

Spread resource buildings and storages across all four quadrants — forces Miners to distribute across the whole base instead of clustering

  • 🛡

Clan Castle troops in the center add extra damage to the Miner cluster mid-sweep, compressing the attacker's healing window

Hybrid (Miner + Hog)

⚡ HybridAdvanced

Hybrid is the most complete and consistent 3-star strategy at TH10. It operates in two layers simultaneously: Hog Riders jump walls and follow the outer ring of defenses while Miners burrow underground and attack from inside the base outward. No single Inferno Tower setting counters both simultaneously — Multi-target hurts Hogs but barely dents Miners, and Single-target burns one Miner while Hogs clean up freely. A Queen Walk is used beforehand to destroy one Inferno Tower and clear an attack corridor, making the combined sweep nearly unstoppable.

Army Composition

Miners ×18Hog Riders ×16Archer Queen + Healers ×4Healing Spell ×3Poison SpellHaste Spell

How to Execute

  1. 1

Phase 1 — Queen Walk: deploy 4 Healers then the Archer Queen along the base edge that holds an Inferno Tower

  2. 2

Walk the Queen for 60–90 seconds destroying the Inferno Tower and any nearby defenses — use her ability when HP drops below 30%

  3. 3

After Queen Walk: lure CC troops from the opposite side with a sacrificial Hog, then kill them with Poison Spell

  4. 4

Deploy 8 Hog Riders along the cleaned Queen Walk side — defenses there are weakened so Hogs race through quickly

  5. 5

Immediately release all Miners in a line across the same entry point behind the Hog Riders

  6. 6

Miners dive underground and spread to targets while Hogs jump along the outer defensive ring — the base is attacked from two layers at once

  7. 7

Drop Healing Spell 1 on the Hog cluster as they approach the remaining Inferno Tower

  8. 8

Drop Healing Spell 2 on the combined Miner-Hog group when they converge at the base center

  9. 9

Haste Spell if Hogs stall between two closely spaced defenses — keeps them moving to prevent Double Giant Bomb detonations

  10. 10

Save Healing Spell 3 for the Town Hall area if the cluster arrives there at low HP

How to Counter It

  • 🛡

Double Giant Bomb pairs placed along the most direct Hog pathing route between defenses detonate the entire Hog group in one hit

  • 🛡

Single-target Inferno Tower on the Queen Walk side forces her to use her ability early, limiting how far the walk extends before the main army deploys

  • 🛡

Spring Traps at defense jump-points catch Hogs as they land, removing large numbers before they trigger Healing Spells

  • 🛡

Multi-target Inferno near the base center shreds the combined Miner-Hog cluster that arrives simultaneously

  • 🛡

Spread buildings and avoid leaving obvious open corridors — Hogs follow the shortest wall-jump path, so forcing them around corners slows momentum

  • 🛡

Seeking Air Mines near the Queen Walk perimeter damage the Queen and her Healers, reducing how many structures she clears before time runs out

LaLoon (Lava Hound + Balloons)

✈ AirAdvanced

LaLoon is TH10's premier air strategy and one of the most satisfying attacks in all of Clash of Clans. Three Lava Hounds — one per Air Defense — soak every anti-air shot on the map simultaneously, giving 22 Balloons a completely uncontested path through the entire base. Once all three Air Defenses are tanked, Balloons cluster and methodically destroy every defensive building at high speed. The Haste Spell is what elevates this strategy: it removes the main weakness of Balloons (slow movement between defenses) and creates a sweeping wave that defenses cannot keep pace with.

Army Composition

Lava Hound ×3Balloon ×22Minion ×6Rage Spell ×2Haste Spell ×2Poison Spell

How to Execute

  1. 1

Scout the base: locate all three Air Defenses and plan which base edge puts a Lava Hound closest to each one

  2. 2

Lure Clan Castle troops using a Balloon, then kill them with Poison Spell — CC Dragons shred Balloons if left alive

  3. 3

Deploy one Lava Hound per Air Defense from the nearest base edge — each Hound must commit to a separate Air Defense to split anti-air fire across the entire base

  4. 4

Wait until all three Hounds are clearly tanking before deploying Balloons — premature Balloon deployment causes them to cluster on a single Air Defense

  5. 5

Release Balloons in a wide spread across the whole base once Hounds are engaged — avoid stacking them in one corner

  6. 6

Drop Rage Spell on the Balloon cluster when it reaches the most dense defensive area (usually the base center)

  7. 7

Use first Haste Spell on the Balloon column that is moving slowest — usually the group farthest from its next target

  8. 8

Minions clean any isolated non-defensive buildings that the Balloon sweep misses

  9. 9

Use second Haste Spell on the final Balloon group if they stall on the Town Hall or surrounding compartment

How to Counter It

  • 🛡

Seeking Air Mines placed directly adjacent to Air Defenses (not between them) burst Lava Hounds before they fully absorb anti-air fire, causing pups to release prematurely

  • 🛡

Place all four Air Defenses in separate base quadrants — if two Air Defenses are close together, one Lava Hound tanks both and the attacker has a free Hound to spare

  • 🛡

Giant Air Bombs positioned near the base interior catch Balloon clusters that converge after Air Defenses fall

  • 🛡

X-Bow set to Air mode fires at low-flying Balloons and provides ground-level coverage that Air Defenses alone cannot supply

  • 🛡

Clan Castle with a Dragon or Electro Dragon pulls Balloons off their sweep path and forces the attacker to deal with it mid-attack

  • 🛡

Inferno Tower in Multi-target mode punishes the tight Balloon cluster that forms after all Lava Hounds have been eliminated

GoWiBo (Golem + Witch + Bowler)

⚔ GroundIntermediate

GoWiBo is TH10's classic ground-and-skeleton strategy. Two Golems absorb all defensive fire while Witches spawn skeleton swarms that overwhelm point defenses, and Bowlers roll boulders that bounce between multiple targets in a line. Unlike Miner-based strategies, GoWiBo operates entirely above ground — making it immune to Spring Trap counters but vulnerable to splash. The army self-sustains through sheer numbers: skeletons and Bowler boulders create so many simultaneous targets that defenses cannot focus fire on a single threat.

Army Composition

Golem ×2Witch ×4Bowler ×6Wall Breaker ×6Jump Spell ×2Rage SpellBat SpellPoison Spell

How to Execute

  1. 1

Lure Clan Castle troops using a Wizard and eliminate them with Poison Spell before starting the main push

  2. 2

Create a funnel: deploy 2 Wizards on each far corner of your planned attack angle to clear outside buildings and direct the army inward

  3. 3

Deploy both Golems side by side at the center of the funneled entry point — they walk forward and absorb all Cannon, Mortar, and X-Bow fire

  4. 4

Send Bowlers directly behind the Golems in a horizontal line — their rolling boulders bounce between structures ahead

  5. 5

Place Witches behind the Bowlers — skeletons spawn continuously and spread ahead of the army distracting point defenses

  6. 6

Use Jump Spell to carry the full army through the first major inner wall ring without losing momentum

  7. 7

Bat Spell on the largest cluster of Mortars or X-Bows near the base center — bat skeletons distract and overwhelm splash defenses

  8. 8

Second Jump Spell to breach the final compartment if needed

  9. 9

Rage Spell on the GoWiBo cluster at the Town Hall for a fast finish

How to Counter It

  • 🛡

Inferno Tower on Multi-target mode decimates skeleton swarms and Bat Spell skeletons before they distract defenses effectively

  • 🛡

Small internal wall compartments split the skeleton swarm into fragments — Bowler boulders also deal less damage when targets are separated

  • 🛡

Bomb Tower with high splash damage fires into skeleton clusters continuously, preventing the swarm from overwhelming point defenses

  • 🛡

Mortars and Scattershot (if available) chain-react through skeleton groups faster than they spawn

  • 🛡

Seeking Air Mines placed near the Clan Castle ensure that if GoWiBo is paired with a partial air component, Balloons are punished on approach

  • 🛡

Keep the TH surrounded by compact compartments on all sides — GoWiBo loses efficiency when forced to bounce Bowler boulders around corners rather than straight lines

All bases in our collection are designed with the current attack meta in mind.

4

What is the best TH10 farming base layout?

The best TH10 farming bases keep Dark Elixir Storage deep in the center behind multiple wall layers, while Gold and Elixir Storages are spread across the base in separate compartments. This forces attackers to commit a full army to reach all resources, making farming raids inefficient. Use the Farming filter above to browse optimized layouts.

5

What new defenses does Town Hall 10 unlock?

Town Hall 10 unlocks 2× Inferno Towers (switchable Multi/Single-target), Additional Air Defense, Additional X-Bow. 2× Inferno Towers (switchable Multi/Single-target) is one of the most impactful additions — it significantly changes how attackers must approach the base. Total defense count at TH10 reaches 56, making it one of the stronger defensive levels in Clash of Clans.

6

How do I build an anti-3-star base at TH10?

Anti-3-star bases at TH10 share several key traits: the Town Hall is buried behind at least 3 wall layers with no direct pathing, defenses like 2× Inferno Towers (switchable Multi/Single-target) are protected by inner compartments, Clan Castle is centralized so troops activate mid-raid, and traps are placed in predictable pathing corridors. Browse the War and CWL filters on this page for proven anti-3-star layouts.

7

What is the best TH10 base for trophy pushing?

Trophy bases at TH10 prioritize protecting the Town Hall above all else — a successful Town Hall defense means the opponent scores fewer stars and less percentage.
